High Variation in Yield among Wild Blueberry Genotypes: Can Yield Be Predicted by Leaf and Stem Functional Traits?

نویسندگان

چکیده

Wild lowbush blueberry fields are characterized by high genetic diversity, with a large number of genotypes coexisting in every field. Yield also varies among genotypes, which could be related to the variation physiological and structural traits, but this has not been rigorously tested. In study, we aimed quantify inter-genotype yield, as well leaf stem functional establish relationship between traits yield-related wild blueberries. To do so, carried out study during 2019 harvest season measuring including number, length, diameter, chlorophyll concentration, mass area, area per stem, branches temperature, soil water content yield data berry size (weight 100 berries), berries length cluster from two farms. We found variations structural, functional, fields. negative associations unit midday temperature whereas concentration was positively associated yield. Additionally, quadratic berries, cluster) optimum for at 25 cm. Our results suggest that several traits; thereby, those can used predict yields. findings help growers breeders select better-yielding based on traits.

Pruning severity affects yield, fruit load and fruit and leaf traits of ‘Brigitta’ blueberry

Pruning is crucial to balance productivity and fruit quality in blueberry orchards. Slight, conventional and severe pruning treatments were applied on 4and 5-year old bluberry plants cultivar ‘Brigitta’ to evaluate their effect on yield, leaf area, gas exchange and fruit load as driver of fruit quality traits. Yield and berries per plant decreased with increasing pruning severity, whereas canop...

Estimation of Genetic Parameters of Yield and Yield Traits in Wheat Genotypes under Rainfed Conditions

Development of superior crop varieties is the prime objectives of all plant breeding programs. To determine genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance, 24 elite bread wheat lines were planted in randomized complete block design with three replications at the University of Agriculture, Peshawar under rainfed conditions. Data were recorded on days to heading, days to maturity, plant he...

Zero Investment in a High Yield Asset Can be Optimal

In a market with one stock and one bond, a risk averse agent would normally follow the principle of holding a positive amount of stock if and only if its mean rate of return is strictly larger than the interest rate of the bond We provide an example to show that in the latter case, it may be optimal not to invest in the stock. §

Diversity and Relationships of Yield and Quality Traits in Cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata L.) Genotypes

Cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata L.) is an important cool season grass species in the moderate climate of Iran. In order to evaluate the yield and quality traits, an experiment was conducted in irrigation conditions using 36 accessions of Dactylis glomerata using a randomized complete block design with three replications in Islamabad, Kermanshah province, Iran in 2010. Characters such as forage dr...
